Main vitamins for diabetics

People with diabetes are twice as likely to develop heart disease than those without the disease, and vitamins can be beneficial. So we are going to explain what are the main vitamins for diabetics.

The diabetes is a condition in which the body can not effectively use glucose to obtain energy, so the excess glucose remains in the blood, leading to have high blood sugar, and is called hyperglycemia.

Vitamins for Diabetes

The vitamins B1, C and D are beneficial for diabetics , because clinical studies have shown that there is a deficiency of these nutrients in diabetes.

Vitamin B1

Vitamin B1 or thiamine, has multiple functions, since it is a powerful antioxidant, improves circulation and helps produce hydrochloric acid, which helps with digestion.

Vitamin B-1 is essential for diabetics because it is involved in sugar metabolism and nerve function, which is often affected in these cases may be the key to a variety of vascular problems in diabetics.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C has many health benefits, and plays an important role in the formation of collagen and muscle integrity, blood vessels and tissue. It is an important antioxidant and has anti – inflammatory properties.

The relationship between type II diabetes, blood levels of vitamin C and consumption of fruits and vegetables was studied and concluded that the  likelihood of developing diabetes was 62% lower in subjects who had higher levels of vitamin C in plasma, compared to those with lower levels of this vitamin. That’s why we included among the major vitamins for diabetics.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D, has a dual function as vitamin and hormone because the body can by the action of sunlight on the skin, and has the role of regulating the calcification and bone mineralization; in addition to strengthening the health neuromuscular and immune function.

This vitamin has been shown to be beneficial in conditions such as osteoporosis, cancer, diabetes, hypertension and heart disease and adequate intake of this vitamin can prevent the onset of diabetes and reduce complications for people who already have the disease. A supplemental dose of vitamin D can improve the utilization of glucose and bone health.

Multivitamins

A good multivitamin should have a 50 to 150% of the daily value of each vitamin and mineral , such as vitamin A, B complex – riboflavin, thiamine, niacin, folic acid, B6 and B12, vitamin C, D, E, K, and minerals such as chromium, iron, copper, zinc, calcium, magnesium and selenium. Ie should contain the main vitamins for diabetics.
