Dentures will last longer and be more suitable if you take proper care of them. Keep these points in mind to keep your dentures in top shape:

Clean dentures daily: It’s important to brush dentures every day in the same way that you would brush your teeth, with one major difference: Skip the toothpaste. Many commercial types of toothpaste may damage dentures. Instead, use a soft bristle brush, specially designed for cleaning dentures, and water to brush all surfaces of dentures, but be careful not to bend the attachment. Rinse your dentures with water after eating. You can buy special denture cleanser to soak the dentures, but immersion is not a substitute for brushing-you need to brush your dentures to remove plaque.

Rinse them right: It’s always a good idea to lay a folded towel on the floor or clean dentures over a sink of water when you rinse dentures. This is so that if you drop them, they won’t break. For those times you are not using your dentures, leave them soaking in cold water or denture cleaning solution to stop them from getting too dry. Be wary of using denture solution if you have a metal attachment as these solutions can cause metal to tarnish and do not soak the dentures in water that’s too hot or they could warp.

Take out your dentures every night: This lets the gum tissue underneath the dentures to have a rest and breathe a little. Dentures should be brushed every day in order to rid them of a build-up of food and plaque, as well as preventing stains. You’ll need a soft bristle brush specially designed for cleaning dentures. Do not use a hard bristle brush; this can damage dentures. Softly brush all areas of the dentures and try not to damage or bend the plastic attachment. Rinse off your denture after every meal. Never try to repair or adjust or your dentures yourself. Adjusting any part of the metal attachments can greatly weaken the metal. Do not buy over-the-counter repair kits or glue.
